Howdy y’all. I could be telling you about how my writing is going (fine) and what I’m working on at the moment (Amish) and what is new (not much), but instead I want to tell you something I learned about on Sunday.
To keep it brief, the congregation learned about the Not For Sale Campaign which is a huge organization trying to stop slave labour. Did you know there are 30 million slaves today? I kid you not. I’m not here to preach. I am not here to ask you for a donation (although do consider buying some of their t-shirts!) but I want to encourage not to shop for specific items. Specific items from specific companies that know they are using child labour/women labour/slave labour for their financial gain. I have researched and written out all the specifics. Will you take the time to copy them and then not buy those items, no matter how badly you want them? I myself have been torn about buying certain things, but when I think of the pain and suffering I am inducing because I want an object? For shame on me! So without futher ado, here are the items. All items were copies off the free2work website, which also has a fantastic little app that allows you to scan barcodes of items and will tell you if they are using slave labour or not. Isn’t that brilliant? And it’s free and only 4 MG!!!
Please do not turn off your heart or humanity when you read about the following. Please, please make a difference and boycott.
